| Pensioners sit on hunger strike, ask for release of pending dues | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec14- Criticizing the alleged indifferent attitude of the government towards the pensioners of the state, the J&K Pensioners Association held a day’s hunger strike in front of Divisional Commissioner’s office today under the leaderships of Govind Ram Sharma. The pensioners are demanding release of pension arrears in one installment, enhancement of Medical Allowance, release of D.A arrears besides revoking the order withholding gratuity and computation pension in respect of pensions retiring after July 1, 2009. The Pensioners are also demanding amendment in Government Order No 216-F of 2009 dated September 24, 2009 to the extent that the provision of 50% of the Revised pay Band/scale be restricted to basic pension only and full pay be substituted in Para (a) and (b) of cause III basic Government Order No 86-F dated April 15, 2009 instead of 50% Grade pay. The pensioners are also demanding that provision of proportionate pension for not qualifying 33 years of service should be done away with, besides removing the provision of proportionate pension applying to pre- January 1, 2006 pensioners and judiciously rationalizing the disparity between minimum of the Revised pay/Band in respect of brand II, III and IV as there is alarming difference in the initial of pay Brand/scales.
