| DyCM reviews projects in urban areas | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, DEC 14: Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Tara Chand convened a high level meeting of officers here today and took a detailed review of various urban development works including sewerage projects under execution in Jammu division. While reviewing urban development works being executed by Economic Reconstruction Agency, it was informed that against the allocation of Rs 311.74 crore for completion of 32 projects, the agency has been incurred Rs 218.32 crore up to December 12, 2009. These include augmentation of water supply, improvement in sanitation, construction storm water drainage, supply of garbage and drain cleaning equipments to Jammu Municipality and water tankers to PHE department. The agency has so far laid water supply pipes on 255.35 k.mtrs with the expenditure of Rs 96.67 crore. In addition, 49 tube wells have been constructed under deep drilling process involving expenditure of Rs 29.42 crore. The construction of 53 overhead tanks and ground level service reservoirs is in progress with the expenditure of Rs 28.16 crore. Over 34.53 k.mtrs drains has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 55 crore, besides construction of 16 public toilets with an expenditure of Rs 1.83 crore. The meeting was further informed that an expenditure of Rs 17.15 crore has been booked for construction of Sewerage projects of greater Jammu by National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) and 55 percent work on trunk sewer line and 65 percent work on 27 MLD, STP has been completed. Similarly, 60 percent work has also been completed on laying of Lateral Sewer Lines status. The Deputy Chief Minister while expressing dissatisfaction over the slow progress on the projects exhorted upon officers of ERA, NBCC, and UEED department to speed up their efforts, adding that greater coordination between various departments and executing agencies is imperative to yield desired results. He directed the officers for quality of work saying that there will be no compromise on it. Mr. Tara Chand asked the executing agencies judicious use of liberal funds provided by the Centre. He also urged for timely completion of various works so that people get benefitted from these as early as possible. The meeting among others was attended by Commissioner/Secretary, Housing, Mr. Abdul Hamid, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Jammu, Mr. Mubarak Singh, senior officers of ERA, NBCC, UEED, PHE, PDD and other concerned officers.
