| UPA fiddling, not tacking Kashmir issue: Chaman | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 15- Charging the Congress led UPA government at the centre as also their dispensation in Jammu and Kashmir of fiddling with the situation in the trouble torn state instead of tackling the real problems facing the people. The BJP legislature party leader Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has said that the real problem is the cross border terrorism having its roots in religious fundamentalism. Addressing a meeting of the ward Presidents and other activists or Jammu City West Assembly Constituency here today, Prof. Gupta said unless Pakistan is pressurized to behave and learn living like a good neighbour, the problems of secessionism and semi-secessionism are bound to persist in one form or the other as certain elements within and outside want to keep the pot boiling in one form or the other. ‘Knowing little about the root causes of the problems as also the geography of this troubled State, certain elements are getting eager to achieve what their ancestors could not do, he added and observed that in Jammu and Kashmir, the bigger cause of troubles had been the mishandling of the so-called Kashmir issue right from the day one, whether it was the issue of accession or going for a ceasefire with invader Pakistan or granting a separate status or it was the real democratic functioning like other parts of the country’, he said. He said the history is witness to the past that whenever the Congress rulers had a dialogue, they bungled, whether it was of Shimla Agreement or Delhi Agreement or that of Tashkent, he added and alleged that for sad communal division of India in 1947, the leadership of the Congress was equally guilty and then granting of separate status under communal consideration to Jammu and Kashmir, were their big follies. The BJP leader impressed upon the workers and moreso, the nationalists India to remain at guard as the Congress was always guided by communal considerations despite their claims of being secular. He assailed the much claimed Employment Policy announced recently by the Chief Minister and termed it as an attempt to wriggle out of the lofty promises made by the National Conference and Congress at the time of Assembly elections. Otherwise, there is little new in this Policy which can provide any solution to the unemployed youths. Much of the problems, especially that of increasing unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir, he said were ‘due to the separate status granted under obnoxious Article 370 in presence of which the industrial growth could be a mirage only, and without industries, the unemployment is bound to persist. Hence, every nationalist should work to get demolished the barriers created between this State and rest of the country because of this Article, he maintained.
