| Azad: No Talengana type division of J&K | | 95% militants in state no locals | |
Ranchi, Dec 15 : Union Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad today admitted that Telangana was not that easy a subject to deal with in haste and made it clear that Jammu and Kashmir would not be divided at any cost.
''Even before Independence, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir were together and they are united till date,'' Mr Azad told a news conference here after addressing three election rallies in Manika, Chatra and Garhwa. The Minister asserted that Jammu and Kashmir would remain united.
Reacting to the BJP's allegation that there was no protest when three states - Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand - were created by the then NDA government at the Centre, Mr Azad said history of the Telangana was completely different from that of the three.
''I personally feel Telangana is very difficult to deal with and it has been on for a long time,'' he stated.
Azad today claimed that 95 percent of the militants operating in Jammu and Kashmir are not from the State.
"Twenty years ago the ratio was 95 percent from the State and five percent from outside. Now it is just the reverse because the people have understood that justice can be done only through dialogue," Azad told reporters here.
About five-six years ago, the people of Jammu and Kashmir realised that the State's economy had come to tatters following violence, he said.
"But had they understood this 20 years, ago there wouldn't have been any bloodshed," he said.
Reaching out to the ultra-left wing extremism in Jharkhand, he called upon the naxalites to shun the path of violence.
"Drop your guns. Come forward for talks and you will get justice and solutions to all problems. Violence is not good for anybody," he said. |
