| Cooperative Minister stresses efforts for environment conservation | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 16: Minister of State for Co-operative, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma has called upon the youth to play their role for conserving and preservation of environment in the State. This was stated by the Minister while addressing a function organized by Youth Hotels Association of India (YHAI), in connection with centenary celebrations of Youth Hostels Association of India and 60th Anniversary of Youth Hostelling in India. A large number of NCC cadets, students of various colleges of Jammu regions and prominent citizens and dignitaries were present on the occasion. The Minister called for collective efforts of the Government and the people to preserve the environment of water bodies, landscapes and lush green forests of the State. “God has bestowed our State with tremendous natural beauty and it is our duty to conserve it”, the Minister added. Dr. Manohar said that the Government has initiated comprehensive plans for reconstruction and conservation of water bodies, including world famous Dal Lake and Tawi and Jehlum rivers He said development of an artificial lake on the banks of river Tawi and beautification of river Jehlum have been taken up, urging concerned officers and executing agencies should ensure timely completion of these projects. The Minister appreciated the role of YHAI for organizing awareness camps for protection and conservation of State’s environment.
