| Mehbooba for probe in Sheeraza killing | | |

Srinagar Dec 16: Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti has condemned the murder of yet another innocent lady in Kellar area of Shopian district.
In a statement issued here toady she called for a halt to such senseless spilling of blood and regretted that government had failed to curb crime in the society inspite of the down turn in militancy.
Mehbooba Said the unfortunate killing of Sheeraza was third in the area this year of a woman which was attributed to “unknown gunmen”.
This she said is an unacceptable situation and the government owes it to the citizens of the state that the criminals involved in such heinous acts are brought to book and punished. She said the inability of the law enforcing agencies to nab the culprits in most cases had created a free for all situations and there was no fear of authority or rule of law.
Mehbooba said even as the administration couldn’t claim any achievements in investigation of crime any where in the state Shopian seems to be emerging with the dubious distinction of being the worst affected. The unsolved murder of Asiya and Neelofar was followed by the murder of Aijaz Hussain a business man who was also closely associated with the demand for transparent investigation into the death of two ladies.
Mehbooba said the government had lost the moral authority and the strength to face the victims of these wanton killings and it was no wonder that no one from the government or the ruling party had visited the bereaved families.
