Ajaz favours training challenged children in special faculties

Nagrota, Dec 16: Minister of State for Hajj & Auqaf, Fisheries, Social Welfare and Law, Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Khan today suggested special training for children faced with mental and intellectual handicaps. He said these children need special attention and training for which the teachers have to be accordingly trained.
Addressing the concluding function of advanced coaching programmed for the games instructors and trainers of mentally and intellectually challenged children here today, the Minister said special measures including holding of special learner classes for the personality development of these children are taken in other States and asked for introduction of the same in the state. He said studies have shown that such children have a special inkling for fields like sports, applied and fine arts and music and asked the experts to devise means to explore the hidden talent of these disciplines among these children.
The Minister said he held an earnest desire to work with Social Welfare Department which works directly for the welfare and progress of disadvantageous sections of society. He said the Department runs many welfare schemes for the upliftment of these segments of society and asked for societal support for these schemes.
Organized by the State chapter of State Olympic-Bharat, the five day coaching programme was attended by 54 coaches from 13 states of the country.
Present on the occasion were Mr. S. P. Verma, President, Gandhi Global Family, Deputy Director General, NCC, Brig. Anil Gupta, State Chairman, Special Olympic-Bharat and President Jammu Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mr. Y. B. Sharma, Regional Director, IGNOU, Mr. K. K. Bhat, Principal, Govt. College for Women Gandhi Nagar, Prof. Nalini Kohli, President, Sahyog India, Dr. Ashwin Ojra, Family President, Special Olymics-Bharat, Mrs. Shakuntala Joshi and others.
