| Man acquitted of murder charges | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec16-Acquaiting accused Rajesh Kumar of Barely (UP) and Daulat Ram of Billaspur (MP), presently residing at Rani Bagh Jammu, in alleged murder of Mintu Khan just for Rs.2400, after six years of trial, Principal Sessions Judge Jammu BL Bhat, after going the statement of witnesses, observed that there is no substantive worth reliance to connect the accused with the alleged crime. The court further observed that legal evidence to establish nexus of accused with murder of deceased is lacking. As the prosecution has failed to prove the charges, the case is dismissed, and accused are acquitted of the charges framed against them after facing trial for about six years.
According to the prosecution case on May 15, 2003 Gandhi Nagar Police received information to the effect that dead body of unknown person with serious injuries had been discovered near cremation ground Shastri Nagar. A case u/s 302 RPC r/w section 4/25 Arms Act was registered and investigation taken-up and after completion of investigation challan was presented in the court of law.
