| CBI presents challan against banker, others | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec16- Central Bureau of Investigation/Anticorruption Bureau Jammu today presented challan in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu against Sham Singh, a private person and Satendra Parsad then Branch Manager State Bank of India Branch Vijaypur presently Deputy Manager SBI Chandigarh u/s 120-B, 467, 468, 471 RPC and 5(2) r/w 5(1) (d) of J&K PC Act 2006 BK.
After going through the challan, Special Judge directed accused Sham Singh son of Buti Singh village Badoi Tehsil and District Samba and Satendra Parsad the then Branch Manager SBI Vijaypur to furnish bail bond and personal bond to the tune of Rs 10000 each. The accused, on court directions furnished the bail bond and surety bond.
According to the case the accused persons Sham Sing (private person), JB Singh Assistant Director National Horticulture Board Jammu and some unknown officials of State Bank of India had entered into a criminal conspiracy to cheat the SBI and NHB. According to the alleged conspiracy, Sham Singh submitted false proposals for launching various projects for the development and cultivation of strawberry, gladiolus and Litchi under the scheme of Development of Commercial Horticulture. Under this scheme the promoters are given subsidy of 20% on the total cost of the project. Sham Singh preferred repeated projects for cultivation of above said items on the same piece of land, which was shown to have been utilized for the first scheme and thereby availed subsidy to the tune of Rs 5 lakhs from time to time. Sham Singh obtained the loan from the bank for cultivation of different crops on this land, the ground situation shows that these projects were not properly launched and no bore wells, tube-wells, sheds, pump houses were installed at the said land, but the subsidy was claimed on the basis of the false record.
According to the challan CBI/ACB clarified that major penalty was recommended by RDA against JB Singh Assistant Director NHB Jammu for violating the procedure and such action was also recommended against Savresh Kohli then Branch Manager Jammu Rural Bank Jakh for violating the norms and procedures of the bank.
