| Mild intensity quake rocks Dharapuram | | |
Salem, Oct 7 An earthquake of mild intensity shook Dharapuram in Erode district of Tamil Nadu today.
The quake, measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale, occurred at 1242 hrs, with its epicentre at latitude 11.0 Deg North and longitude 77.3 deg East.
According to Meteorological department here, the quake lasted for about 15 seconds. The impact was felt in about ten villages in and around Dharapuram, about 120 km from here.
Cracks appeared in several houses and panic-stricken people rushed out of their houses.
Schools and colleges in the district were closed following the quake.
