Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 16: Continuing drive against adulteration in food items, and intensive checking of the food articles was undertaken by the checking team of food inspectors headed by the health officer of Jammu municipal corporation (JMC) in the areas of Maheshpura chowk, Reshamgarh Colony, Ware House, Gandhi Nagar etc here today. During checking 85 establishments of confectionary shops halwai shops, fruit juice corners, meat shops, dhabas etc were checked and 23 defaulters were booked under the provisions of PFA Act, 1954, of Municipal Corporation Act 2000. Apart from this six persons were found smoking at public places and were also booked under cigarette and tobacco act. A total number of Rs. 5200/- was realized as fine from the defaulters on spot. Besides this drive against the adulteration of milk, the municipal veterinary officer visited the areas of Maheshpura Chowk, Jewel, Canal Road, Talab Tillo, Patta Chungi and checked 52 no’s of milk canes in these areas, out of which 09 no’s of milk canes were sent to laboratory for test. A fine of Rs. 1700.00 was also realized from the erring milk vendors on spot. Also the team visited the area of Ware House, Satwari, Digiana, Jewel Chowk, Gandhi Nagar, Kunjwani, Sainik Colony, Sarwal, Janipur, Roop Nagar, Muthi etc and lifted 15 no’s of stray animals. The stray animals were impounded to Municipal Cattle pound and a fine of Rs. 2650.00 was realized from the owners of stray animals.
