| Reorganization of JMC demanded | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 16: The Safai Karamchari union in a meeting presided over by its president, Dev Anand Gill has demanded re-organization of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). He said in deputation of the union recently called on Dy. Chief Minister Tara Chand in this regard and added he gave patient hearing and assured for an early action. Beside a number of important issues were discussed in the meeting which includes non-disbursement of pension at revised rates. The members of the union unanimously agreed to project this burning issue before the government as well as the municipal authorities through print media and also hold rallies and demonstrations in case the plights of the municipal retirees are not redressed. The union also took a strong notice that N.G.O’s engaged in JMC for extending civic and sanitation services have been deducting Rs 400 to 600/ per months per person un-lawfully and illegally from the wages of the workers under their control. It was also urged upon the municipal authorities to hold D.P.C meeting at the earliest and regular intervals. During this meeting president was designated by the union to call on the deputy mayor who is also the chairman of finance and planning committee to enhance the festival advance from Rs. 1000/- to Rs 3000/- particularly before the Christmas falling due on so that the officials belongings to Christian community could celebrate the festival with pomp and show. The meeting were attended by Kashmior Devi, Vijay Pal, Sethi Gill, Shanker Kumar, Bhagat Ram, Raju Mooman, Tersam Hans, Bittu, Lucky, Sajan Mooman, Philips, Sagar and others.
