| Mian for quick forest clearance to tourism projects | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, December17- Minister for Forests, Environment and Wildlife, Mian Altaf Ahmad today convened a high level meeting and discussed host of issues pertaining to the development of Forests of the State.
Minister for Tourism Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora and Minister of State for Tourism, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani, were present in the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the construction work being carried on by the Tourism Department in the State Forest land for promoting tourism activities.
The meeting also discussed the issues of forests clearance sought by different departments for executing developmental works. It was told that requisite forest clearance would be given to tourism department for raising huts at various tourists spots including Patnitop and compensation by these departments for safeguarding the environment in the required areas.
The Minister urged the officers to work in close synergy and clear the pending cases so that the flora and fauna of these areas are preserved.
Keeping in view the importance of protecting the environment world over, it was felt that it has assumed focused attention of environmentalists to protect natural resources.
Mian Altaf exhorted upon the officers to work with dedication and zeal and put in efforts to strengthen the department on modern lines
Secretary, Tourism, Mrs. Tanveer Jhan, Special Secretary, Forests, Chief Conservator of Forests. And other senior officers were present on the occasion.
