| National award winner child meets Governor | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, DEC 17: Master Hiteshwar Singh, a 9th class student of a local school, called on the Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, here last evening. Master Hiteshwar Singh has recently received the National Child Award-2009, for his exceptional ability in the field of sports (Roller Skating), from the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development. The Award, comprising a silver medal, citation, certificate and Rs. 10,000 in cash, was presented to him at a function held on the Children’s Day at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The Governor enquired from Master Hiteshwar about his family background, schooling and sports activities and advised him to seek and secure continuing excellence in both academics and sports. He also asked from Master Hiteshwar about the quality of the skates he is using and the forthcoming sports events in which he is likely to participate. The Governor presented a gift to Master Hiteshwar, advised him to keep him informed about his future achievements in sports and wished him a bright career. Master Hiteshwar, who has won a number of medals for his excellence in sports both at the State and the national level, was accompanied by his father, Mr. Sudhir Singh, an engineer in the Public Health Engineering Department.
