Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 17: The continuous spell of chill has not only affected normal life across the northern region but also brought down the number of pilgrims visiting Vaishno Devi Shrine situated at Trikuta Hills of mountainous Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. ''Though the ending days of the month will observe a heavy rush of pilgrims due to the New Year ahead presently the figure is very low due to the chill and fog,'' official sources told Sources further said following a decline in the rush, the natural cave has also been thrown open for the devotees to have darshan of natural pindies inside. ''It is not possible to keep the natural cave open throughout the year due to heavy rush but every year in winters, the cave is thrown open because of less number of pilgrims visiting the shrine,'' they added. However, 6,732 pilgrims visited the shrine on December 10, while from December 11 to 15 the figure was 8,904, 15,597, 13,201, 12,368 and 6,800 respectively, official sources said.
