| Infiltration Bid Foiled, One Militant Killed | | | Early Times Report Srinagar | Dec 17 The Army today claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid by gunning down a militant near the line of Control (LOC) in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. "The infiltration bid was foiled in Uri sector and so far one militant was killed. The operation is still in progress," defence spokesman Lt Col J S Brar said. However, police said a group of militants was challenged by Army troops at village Madiya in Kamalkote, 140 kms from here, and in the ensuing gunbattle one of the infiltrators was killed. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the possession of the slain militant, police said. In another incident, an army jawan was critically injured when militants opened fire at a search party in Pattan area of Baramulla district last night. The troops were attacked when they raided Dangerpora village, 30 kms from here, in search of hiding militants. The jawans retaliated, but the ultras managed to escape, they said.
