| JMC goes tough against adulterators | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 18: Continuing the anti Encroachment drive, the Field staff of Enforcement wing under the supervision of Joint Commissioner (Adm.) carried out a drive and removed encroachments form the pavements, footpaths etc. at Indira Chowk, K.C Chowk, B.C Road, Balwinder Chowk, Rehari, Main Dido Chowk, New Plot and Old Janipur areas and seized the material placed by the shopkeepers, vendors and reheri owners by encroaching upon pavements, footpaths and parts of roadsides today. The team also demolished four nos of platforms raised over the municipal drains at Upper Gumat and Bakshi Nagar areas. Also the team removed the encroachment by demolishing temporary structure and a tandoor raised near Nallaha at Chinar Colony, Channi Rama. In another move, the Health officer alongwith team of food inspectors inspected 22 nos of food establishments in the areas of Prem Nagar, Gujjar Nagar, Narwal etc and lifted 3 samples of spices, flour and chilly powder from the stores of hotel and restaurant. During the drive 20 kgs of unwholesome/ stale food and 15 kgs of raw meat found under unhygienic condition for sale was also destroyed. The drive is continuing as a sequel to curb the menace of adulteration in the day to day useable food items. Beside this Municipal Veterinary Officer visited the areas of Parade, Pacca Danga, New Plot, Sarwal, Janipur etc and checked 93 no’s of Milk canes in these areas, out of which 13 no’s of milk canes were lifted & sent to Laboratory for test . A fine of Rs. 2400.00 was also realized from the erring Milk vendors on spot.
