Home Guards threaten of fast-unto-death

Dec, 18: All Jammu & Kashmir Home Welfare Association criticised the government of not solving the problem of unemployment among the educated youth and not regularizing the services of J&K Home Guards.
The President of the association Kamla Sharma said that the government of J&K is utilising the services of belt force personnel from neighboring states, but the J&K Home Guards who are trained and could have been easily adjusted are not being regularised. The J&K Home Guards personnel she said have decided to sit on fast unto death from 17 december 2009 at Mubarak Mandi.
Release by the association said that the J&k Home Guards have been struggling for years but government has done nothing except making false promises.
The meeting was attended by Riaz Ahmed, Zamir Ahmed, Aman, Sandeep, Javed Ahmed, Suresh Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Shashi Bala, Darshana Kumari, Krishan Lal, Farooq Ahmed, Pawan Kumar and others, of both the provinces of Kashmir and Jammu.
