Pak agencies plan to kick up violence and border violations in J&K

Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 19:- With Pakistan faced with political instability following the Supreme Court verdict annuling the National Reconcialition Ordinance(NRO),the agencies across the LOC besides the Pakistani Army have become active in escalating the level of violence in Jammu and Kashmir.According to official sources, these agencies have lent support to the troops, deployed on the border,to violate the five-year old ceasefire.During the last one month the Pakistani troops have violated the ceasefire on at least four times. After each violation either the two sides hold a flag meeting or Pakistan denies that its troops had violated the ceasefire.
The sources said that in fact groups of militants, who have been brought to the launching pads across Poonch,Rajouri,Kupwara,Keran and Machel sectors, have been spotted camping within the Army camps. These militants are being assisted by the troops in opening fire on the Indian pickets.Sources said that today's ceasefire violation in Poonch and earlier violations in other sectors were meant to help militants in sneaking into Jammu and Kashmir.Having found that the Indian troops had foiled series of infiltration bids during the last couple of months the Pakistani troops have devised a strategy under which they, alongwith the militants, open fire on the Indian pickets which kicks up confusion and chaos on the LOC.In this chaos and confusion some of the militants manage to cross into Jammu and Kashmir even if that crossing results in the death of a couple of militants in the Indian retaliatroy action.
According to these sources, another strategy being adopted by the agencies across the border was to direct militants, operating in Jammu and Kashmir,to attack political leaders and "informers."Today's attack on the two people, including one National Conference leader, was part of the plan of eliminating political leaders so that the proposed talks were derailed.Already by attacking Sheikh Aziz and injuring his critically the militants have forced the separatists, especially the moderartes,to develop cold feet towards participating the proposed talks with Delhi.
Another purpose for fuelling unrest and violence in Jammu and Kashmir was to divert Pakistan peoples' attention from the current political crisis generated by the growing demand for the resignation of President,Asif Ali Zardari. However, latest reports from across the border said that that Central Council of the Pakistan's Peoples'Party has decided to support Zardari after legal experts told the council that as President Zardari enjoyed immunity against any court order. In this connection a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the court's order on reopening of the cases against Zardari.
What seems to gladden the ruling coalition is the continued reticence adopted by the Pakistani Army authorities, especially the Corps commanders and the Army Chief,General Ashfaq Kiyani.Earlier there were fears that the Army may stage a coup but indications are that with open US support to the Zardari led Government the Pakistani Army may not try for a coup against Zardari. It is so because the Army is currenly engaged in its war against the terrorists. Its initial success in the Swat valley and south Waziristan seems to have encouraged it to diversify the war in other terrorist infested areas.
Political anaylysts are of the view that the violence grap in Jammu and Kashmir may go up in the near future and there may be more incidents of border firing as the main aim was to push into Jammu and Kashmir as many groups of militants as possible within next one month.(eom)
