| Quality education imperative for overall dev of the students: Slathia | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, DECEMBER 20 – Minister for Industries and Commerce Mr. S. S. Slathia on Sunday said that focus on quality education, personality development of children besides encouraging co-curricular activities including sports in the educational institutions was the priority of the coalition government led by Mr. Omar Abdullah. Addressing the annual day function of Calvary Mission School here, the Minister said that numerous steps have been taken by the government for improvement and upgradation of infrastructure in all the educational institutions in the State adding that the thrust is being given to neglected areas. He said that the prime motto of the government is to expand the reach of quality education to the people especially in far-flung and rural areas at their door steps. Mr. Slathia asked the parents and teachers to work in unison in creating a bright future for the children to shoulder the futuristic challenges. The Minister directed the school management for not charging school fee to those children who belong to poor families. On the directions of the Minister, the Principal of Calvary Mission School announced that the admission for Nursery Class for the session 2009-10 would be free of charges. The Principal of the School, presented the annual report of the school detailing various curricular and extra-curricular activities. A colourful cultural programme were presented by the students on the occasion.
