| BJP condemns police action on fasting agriculture technocrats | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 20- BJP State General Secretary Shamsher Singh Manhas has condemned the police action on Agriculture technocrats, who are on fast unto death for the last two weeks outside Exhibition Ground. Their tents were torn and other items thrown here and there. He said these technocrats were not resorting to anti-democratic ways or indulging in any such act which demands police action. In a democracy, every one has a right to express his opinion in a peaceful way and these people were doing the same peacefully, he maintained. Manhas said it is very unfortunate that the highly educated youth of the state has to come on roads for jobs and daily wagers /adhoc/contractual employees for their regularization and they are cane charged, injured and given inhuman treatment while those preaching sedition, burning the Indian tricolour, observing Black Day on Independence and Republic Days and demanding Azadi are treated as respectable citizens and provided security at the cost of public exchequer and the government do not have money for the salaries of its employees. The BJP leader said that during the present NC-Congress coalition rule, there is resentment every where. The city of temples has turned into city of dharnas, protests and rallies, as the coalition barring lip service is doing nothing practical. It seems that there exists no government which has any concern for the people, he observed. Manhas, reiterating his party’s full support to these technocrats and employees of other departments, asked the government to not harass them any more and concede to their demands at the earliest.
