| PDP demands adequate amenities on Muharram | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 20- Criticizing the coalition government in the state for its failure to reach out to the masses, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded adequate amenities like uninterrupted power, ration, kerosene and water supply for areas where Muharram mourning is observed. In a press statement, issued here today, the party has said that while the people at the helm of affairs were enjoying luxuries, Kashmir region was reeling under the shortage of essential commodities. “Ironically the areas, where Muharram mourning is observed, has not received any attention of the government till now which itself is a testimony of the indifferent and anti-people approach of the government”, the statement added. The party said that these areas have always received special attention in the past during Muharram but unfortunately this year it seems that the government has failed to reach out to the mourners. Demanding adequate measures to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply besides ration and kerosene, the party further demanded fixing of street lights and repairing of pavements in these areas.
