Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 20- The 3-month long free coaching classes in Dogri for the KAS candidates held by Dogri Sanstha, Jammu concluded here today The Sanstha organized the free coaching classes with duel purpose of helping the candidates in the preparation of examination as well as to popularize Dogri literature and language. The response of the candidates has been very enthusiastic this time and they are quite confident about performing well in the forthcoming examinations of KAS.
Addressing a press conference, President Dogri Sanstha, Prof. Lalit Magotra, accompanied by teachers of the course and some of the candidates, said that coaching has been very fruitful and rewarding exercise and very useful feedback has been obtained from the candidates regarding the course content and difficulties faced by them in preparing subject of Dogri for KAS examination. He said it has been felt by the teachers of the course that the syllabus for KAS examination in Dogri needs an urgent revision. The contents of the course need to be brought at a level in consonance with that was required for the examination, he added.
Voicing concern and anguish of Dogri writers, Magotra alleged that the introduction of Dogri at primary level in schools remains on papers only as the same has not been adopted in practice in the schools of Jammu region. Although the books and other teaching material has been prepared and is ready for the last many years but the Government is dragging its feet in implementing the decision of teaching Dogri at primary classes for the reasons best known to it, he pointed out.
He said that Dogri is getting step-motherly treatment at the hands of the Government which is evident from the fact that whereas the Kashmiri has been introduced at the primary level in Kashmir province as a compulsory subject, same has not been done in the case of Dogri.
The Sanstha urged upon the Government to immediately introduce the subject of Dogri as a compulsory subject at primary level and also introduce it at secondary and higher secondary level in all schools in Jammu region and create the positions of teachers to teach Dogri subject in the schools.
