| Zargar inaugurates painters’ camp | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 20- Director Handicrafts, Showkat Ahmad Zargar inaugurated four day state level painters camp at Kala Kendra here on Sunday. About 20 painter’s representing both the regions of the state are participating in the state level painting camp, which would continue till December 23. Speaking on the occasion, Zargar complimented the Cultural Academy for organizing such camps and said that it was because of Academy’s backing and patronage that the art of painting was thriving in the state. He assured that the Handicrafts department would lend every possible help to the Cultural Academy as far as preservation and promotion of the art of Basoli painting was concerned. Earlier, Special Officer Culture, OP Sharma in his welcome address gave a brief background of the entire activity and informed that the Academy had been organizing painting camps since 60s and would continue to hold them in future also. Among the prominent painters who are participating in the camp are Trilok Koul, M. A. Mehboob, Vijay Saraf, Suman Gupta, Naushad Gayoor, Reecha Gupta, and Shahida Malik. Respecting regional aspirations, the Cultural Academy has invited ten artistes each from Kashmir and Jammu regions respectively, he added.
