| Deptt of Judge Advocate General (Army) celebrates 26th Corps Day | | | Early Times Report Udhampur, Dec 21 Department of the Judge Advocate General (Army) celebrates its 26th Corps Day here today with traditional fervor at Udhampur based HQ of Northern Army UDhampur. Defence spokesperson Northern Command Col D K Kachari informed that the department has a glorious past and is one of the oldest organs of the Indian Army and added in India the appointment of Judge Advocate General is as old as from 1841 and the Judge Advocate General of Army deals in Courts Martial matters and is the legal advisor to the Chief of the Army Staff in matters of Military, Martial and (in its fighting service aspects) International law. Earlier the functions for 26th Corps Day started with laying of wreath by Brig PK Sharma, Deputy Judge Advocate General at the War Memorial to pay homage to those who sacrificed their lives for the country. During the day, a tea party was organized with all officers of the Command HQs. On this occasion, Lt Gen BS Jaswal, GOC-in-C, Northern Command commended the services rendered by the Dept and expressed his felicitations and good wishes to the officers, staff and their families. The Corps Day Messages received from Chief Justice of India and Chief of Army Staff were also read out. Thereafter, a legal conference was held in which various complicated legal issues were discussed. The same was inaugurated by Lt Gen BK Chengapa, Chief of Staff of HQ Northern Command.
