| NSF holds protest; gives call for closure of JU from Monday | | | Early Times Report Jammu Dec 21- Following non acceptance of demands by the authorities of Jammu University, National Students Front (NSF) has given a call for indefinite bandh in University campus from Monday next. The students under the banner of NSF and led by its president Vikas Sharma today held a protest demonstration in the campus against the failure of the university authorities in conceding the demands put forth by NSF. The students remained off from the classes today and did not allow the Directorate of Distance Education to run its office today. The day to day work in the Vice Chancellor’s Chamber also remained paralyzed as the students noticed that no senior officer was present in the Campus. The students and the scholars were carrying different types of placards in their hands raising slogans against the University authorities. Addressing the protestors, Vikas Sharma alleged that no enquiry has been conducted so far in alleged manipulation of B.Ed examination and marks tampering case. He said that the memorandum was also submitted to the Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu but nothing has been done so far in this regard. He further said that culprits involved in the infamous shoot –out in the campus have not been detailed and instead the innocent students and University scholars are being unnecessarily dragged and harassed on the pretext of enquiry. Sharma appealed the Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor to look into the functioning of the Vice Chancellor, who according to him, mostly remains busy with meetings outside and did not take interest in the working of the University. Several other NSF office bearers also addressed the protestors.
