| PHE workers demonstrate to press demands | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 21- To press their demands, PHE employees and workers, under the banner of Water Works PHE Employees Association Rural (Mech) Division Jammu, staged a demonstration in front of the Office of PHE Mechanical Rural Division, BC Road here today. The demonstrators were raising slogans in support of their demands and warned to intensify the struggle if government failed to fulfill their demands. Speaking on the occasion, Shiv Kumar Sharma, INTUC state president condemned the delaying tactics of PHE authorities and State Government in settling the problems of the PHE Employees. He said that the employees do not believe in destructive activities or violence, but now employees are fed up from flickering policy adopted by the concerned authorities. He appealed the Government to avoid the flickering policy and concede the employees’ genuine demands at the earliest. Sharma further said that 15,000 persons were recruited in Community Participation, Consolidated Workers and no proper criteria was fixed for disbursement of their wages ranging between Rs. 500 to Rs.1800 per month. The striking workers are demanding Rs.110 wages per day as per the Labour Act, regularization of all those who have completed seven years of service besides granting other benefits. Charanjeet Singh, Vinod Sharma, Vijay Luthra, Parnav Sageotra, Raman Kumar, Brij Mohan, Joginder Lal, Ravi Kurhar and Madan Lal also addressed the protesting workers.
