| DRC emphasizes on improving passenger service | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 21: Departmental Related Committee (DRC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council directed the Officers of State Motor Garages to work with utmost dedication and improve the quality of passenger service and ensure repairing of vehicles in a time frame. The Committee met under the Chairmanship of MLC, Mr. Mohammad Rashid Qureshi here today. The Committee asked the concerned officers to furnish a detailed report about the functioning of the department before the committee for further discussion. The Chairman directed the SRTC authorities to make the Corporation viable. He asked them to ply buses especially on the routes where private transporters have monopolized the system. The committee suggested them to ply buses also on Ashmuqam to Srinagar, Dooru to Srinagar and Sagra Army camp Bhlori to Jammu. The Committee discussed various issues including pollution checking, temporary permits and workshops. The meeting was informed that State Motor Garages have a full fledged workshop and the department has recently purchased automatic car washers. It was also informed that 456 vehicles are available in the department at present.
