| Tara lauds people for preserving composite culture | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 21: Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Tara Chand, today hailed the people of the State for maintaining communal harmony and brotherhood even during testing times adding that the composite culture of the Jammu and Kashmir presents a role model for the world. The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a function, organized by Employees Union of Municipal Corporation Jammu, to observe celebrate Christmas here. Mr Tara Chand said that Jammu and Kashmir is abode of brotherhood, communal harmony and amity since ages, adding that the people of the State have exhibited unmatched unity in fighting back the divisive forces. Reiterating the resolve of the Government to set in a new era of socio-economic development in the State, Mr. Tara Chand said that the coalition Government was committed to uplift the people belonging to weaker sections of the society. He said that significant measures have been taken by the Housing and Urban Development Department to make all basic amenities of life available to the people. He said a massive programme has been launched to develop urban centers and towns on modern lines with better sewerage and drainage network, besides, face-lifting and beautification. , he added. Earlier, the Charismas cake was cut by the Deputy Chief Minister and greeted the participants. Tara Chand congratulated the people especially the Christen community of the State on Charismas, and prayed for peace and prosperity of the State and country and well being of the people.
