| Implementation of labour laws in field reviewed | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 21: To monitor the implementation of different labour laws in the field and to check the violations particularly in respect of the Employees Provident Fund Act, J&K Shops and Establishments Act, Payment of Bonus Act, Payment of Wage Act, Payment of Gratuity Act and Minimum Wages Act, Labour Commissioner J&K, Mr Abdul Hamid Wani accompanied by other functionaries conducted a surprise visit to various establishments including Hotel Premier, Hotel KC Residency , Hotel Ravera, and ASCOMS Hospital & Research Centre, Sidhra. During the check, it was observed that Hotel Premier, Residency Road Jammu has not maintained its records properly. A Huge violation of labour laws particularly Shops and Establishments Act, Minimum Wages Act, Employees Provident Fund Act and Payment of Bonus Act were detected on spot by the team. The Labour Commissioner on spot gave instructions for initiating legal action against the establishment under the provisions of Labour Laws. Certain records in respect of employees of the establishment were also seized during the inspection. Regarding Hotel KC Residency and Hotel Fortune Ravera, the records pertaining to different labour laws were found maintained properly and it was observed that the establishments have implemented the recent notification with regard to revision of Minimum Wages. The team thereafter visited ASCOMS Hospital & Research Centre, Sidhra and talked to the management in respect of the recent unrest with its employees.
