| Science Congress at JU in January: Ruhullah | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Council For Science and Technology will organize 3-day Science Congress in the month of January next year at University of Jammu. This was disclosed at a review meeting held here today under the Chairmanship of Minister for Animal/ Sheep Husbandry, Science & Technology and Information Technology, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi. The meeting was informed that the Council has organized workshops, seminars and awareness rallies for popularizing latest scientific studies and developments. The Council has also conferred Young Scientists Awards, Young Scientists Fellowships besides, Scholarships among students at Graduation and Post-Graduation level under Science Talent Promotion Scheme. The meeting was further informed that Jammu & Kashmir Energy Development Agency would cover 88 un-electrified villages and hamlets of the State under Remote Village Electrification Programme. About 25158 Solar Home Lighting Systems costing Rs. 33crore would be provided to the beneficiaries under the programme. The State Level Energy Park would also be established to create awareness among masses particularly students’ about various energy conservation and alternate energy sources. The land for the purpose has been identified near Nehru Memorial Botanical Gardens, Cheshma Shahi Srinagar, the meeting was informed. It was given out that work on 13 Bio-gas plants have been completed and work on rest of the units is going on in full swing. These units are being constructing at Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur and Doda district under Integrated Rural Electrification Programme (IREP).
