| Bhalla distributes Rs 1.87 crore as land compensation | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 21: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla on Monday distributed cheques worth Rs. 1.87 crore among 184 PoK refugees of 1947 at a function held at Bhour Camp has asked the illegal occupants to vacate Government land voluntarily or face stern action. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Bhalla said that central Government has approved Rs. 49 crore package for rehabilitation of refugees. He said that coalition Government is fully aware of the refugees’ problems and all available resources are being utilised to solve these at an earliest. The Minister said that due to concerted efforts of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, two basties of 1947 refugees in Gaddigarh and Bhour camp have been declared as 'Abadideh' under Common Regularisation Act, 1956, adding that remaining refugees inhabitation would also be regularised soon. He asked the left out displaced persons to complete all the necessary formalities so that compensation can be disbursed among them after proper verification. The Minister said that floriculture garden at Bhour Camp would be on modern lines as a picnic spot for visitors. He said that Government has sanctioned Rs. 1.60 crore for construction of Primary Health Centre at Bhour Camp to provide medical facilities to the patients. With the completion of hospital, the rush on the Jammu city hospitals would be eased to a great extent. Bhalla asked the revenue authorities to issue passbooks to the farmers about their land holdings. He asked them to computerise the revenue record for the convenience of farmers. He asked the employees to remain present in their offices to serve the people. He said that government is committed to provide transparent and accountable administration to people.
