| Cops attempts theft; flees | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 21: A police constable made an attempt to steal a corton of Capstan cigarettes from a kiryana shop at R S Pura this evening.
Police sources said cop Roshan Lal of Purana Pind, R S Pura, went to a kiryana shop in the locality in the evening to make some purchases. However, finding the shopkeeper busy with customers, he stole a carton of Capstan cigarettes worth over Rs 900 and fled.
He was, however, spotted by the shopkeeper who then raised an alarm. Sources said the cop fled the spot leaving the cigarette carton behind.
The shopkeeper later lodged a complaint against him at the R S Pura police station. The cop had not been arrested till late tonight.
