| Jammu records coldest night | | | Early Times Report Jammu , Dec 21 People of Jammu witnessed the coldest night of the season as the temperature fell to 4.6 degree Celsius -- four notches below normal.
The day temperature in the winter capital of the state was recorded at 18.5 degree Celsius, still three degrees below normal during this part of the season, Met office said.
In Kashmir, where the 40 day harsh period of winter known in local parlance as 'Chilai Kalan' started today, most parts were reeling under sub-zero temperature with Pahalgam hill resort in South recording a low of minus 5.2 degrees Celsius.
However, there was an improvement in day temperature compared to yesterday's when Srinagar recorded its coldest day at 5.4 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature in Srinagar today shot up to 7.2 degree Celsius but the night temperature slipped further downward and settled at near normal at minus 2.0 degrees.
