| Pak denies bias against Mehbooba | | | Early Times report Srinagar ,21 Dec Hours after they denied prominent Jammu and Kashmir mainstream politician, Mehbooba Mufti a visa on security grounds, the Pakistan government on Monday (December 21) has now contradicted its position. Speaking exclusively to a National Channel Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson Abdul Basit said Mufti's visa probably got delayed in the process. He also went on to add that the Pakistan government did not differentiate between various political organisations in J&K and that they were not at all averse to Mehbooba Mufti/ On Sunday, the denial ruffled feathers in New Delhi. The prevailing sentiment being that Pakistan had different rules for separatist leaders from J&K - such as the Hurriyat getting easy access. Mufti was to visit Islamabad for a conference on social development starting from December 19. Mehbooba's visa refusal comes on the heels of Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani's claim that Pakistan wants excellent relations with India. Earlier in the week Gilani had said that Pakistan wanted to maintain excellent relations with India though core issues including Kashmir had to be addressed. He also said Pakistan expected good from India and wanted good relations with its neighbour. He had said, "Pakistan wants to maintain excellent relations with India though core issues have to be addressed, including Kashmir as its people want the right to self-determination, Pakistan expects good from India and wants to have very good relations with its neighbour." The PDP chief had visited Pakistan twice before and attended a Pugwash conference there in March last year. She had also met Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Nawaz Sharif and now Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari during her visit.
