| Bana Singh calls on CM | | | Early times Report Jammu, Dec 21: Capt. Bana Singh, Param Vir Chakra, state president, Ex-serviceman cell (NC) met chief minister, Omar Abdullah at his official residence and presented a charter of demands of the ex-servicemen of the J&K state and discussed all the problems of the ex-servicemen point to point and requested the chief minister for redressal of the same in a phased manner so that all the ex-servicemen of the J&K state may avail their right and justice from the Hon’ble corner. The chief minister listened to the problems in a very cool and patient mood and mind and assured the president, to take up the matter with the concerned departments of the state immediately, sort out the ways to give relief to the ex-servicemen for their peace, progress and prosperity. The main demand in the charter was relaxation of VAT to all Ex-servicemen of the J&K state as it is applicable to all other states except J&K. Second point was to give opportunity of jobs in electric department, PHE and Irrigation department and all other government offices to the Ex-servicemen and the third point was to maintain all the defunct tubewells of irrigation and their channels on priority basis so that the farmers of the remote border villages may be able to utilize these defunct tubewells for the irrigation purposes of the cultivation land.
