| JU enters pre-quarters of NZ Cricket | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, December 22: With second consecutive victory today, University of Jammu (JU) qualified for the pre-quarterfinals of the ongoing North Zone Inter-University Cricket Tournament at Bathinda in Punjab.
In the second match today, JU trounced Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar by a big margin of 95 runs. Now, JU shall be playing their pre-quarterfinal match against the winner of tomorrow scheduled on December 26.
Earlier, after winning the toss and decided to bat first, JU set a target of 199 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 30 overs, which, in reply, Gurukul Kangri University could not chase and bowled out for 103 runs in 21 overs.
Young cricketer, Aditya Pratap Singh was top scorer from JU with 50 runs while Sahil played fine innings of 47 runs and Bandeep contributed 19. First class cricketer and JU skipper, Amit Biloria made valuable 27 runs.
Later, chasing the target, Gurukul Kangri University lost all their wickets at a score of 103 runs in 21 overs thus lost the match by 95 runs. From JU, Rahil was most successful bowler with three wickets while Manik Gupta and Vimarsh Kaw shared two wickets each. With one wicket each to their credit, Dilawar and Ashwani also bowled well.
The JU team is accompanied by Raj Kumar as coach and Dr Dawood Iqbal as manager.
