| Slathia reviews performance of Handicrafts, Handloom Deptts | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, DECEMBER 22 - To promote handicrafts, as many as 9 handicrafts exhibitions have been organized in various parts of the State and across the country sofar. The department of handicrafts has fixed a target of organizing eleven such exhibitions. This was stated at a meeting held here today to review performance of handicrafts and handloom department. The Minister for Industries and Commerce Mr. S.S. Slathia presided. The Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Directors Handicrafts and Handlooms and concerned officers participated. The Minister enjoined upon the concerned officers to work with added dedication for promoting world famous handicrafts in the State. He said this sector has vast employment general potential which needs to be explored optimally. The meeting was informed that there are 553 training centres in the State, in which about 6918 trainees have been imparted training during the last fiscal year. There has been a spectacular recovery in the recession of exports this year as compared to the last year, the meeting was informed. It was also informed that 100 centres are presently functional and 802 trainees have been imparted trainees in these Handloom Centres.
