| Over 2070 teachers impart quality education to students at Leh | | | Early Times Report Leh, Dec 23: Education is the basic need without which one cant fulfills his dream of smooth development. Aiming at to impart education to all the school going children of the district with teaching and learning facilities, the Education department has created infrastructure of schools in every corner so that no one be left without the basic need of the era and at the behest of the LAHDC, Leh, the Education has accorded the priority sector for the development. As many as 346 number of education institutions are functioning in the district, out of which 38 High/Higher Secondary School, 117 Middle schools, 190 Primary schools and one Degree college respectively. 11009 students were receiving education in these institutions of which 3903 in High/Higher Secondary Schools, 3954 in Middle schools and 2871 in Primary schools and 302 students in Degree College of which the female role was 224. To impart quality education to the students, 2071 teaching staff are working in various educational institutions. Since the year, 2004 at the behest of LAHDC, Leh Schools of remotest and educationally backward areas like Durbok, Lighshed, Nyoma and Korzok etc has been centralized with free boarding, lodging and teaching and learning facilities which really right and dedicated step towards education. At the end of March 2009, there were 13 centralized Residential Schools in the district. According to Chief Educaiton Officer, Leh Abdul Rauf that an amount of Rs. 403.08 lacs has been spent during the last fiscal year and Rs. 488.76 is expending on education sector out of which Rs. 487.86 lacs as Capital component and Rs. 0.90 lacs as revenue components during the current year under district plan.
