2 day National IT Fest organized at GCW Parade

A Two Day National I.T. Fest was organized by the Department Of Computer Sciences, GCW Parade in which a seminar was organized on the topic “Role of I.T. in the development of the country: Present Scenario, Future Scope.”
Atleast 36 speakers including 15 speakers selected from the colleges outside the state participated and shared their views on the various sub-topics. The two day National IT Fest was inaugurated by Chief Guest Abdul Gani Malik, Minister for Higher Education. Pramod Jain IAS Commissioner/Secretary who was Guest of Honor in his keynote address dwelt at length on the relevance of the topic and the necessity of deliberations on the revolution brought about by the use of computers.
In her welcome speech principal of the college, Dr Savitri Sharma said that the deliberation of seminar will certainly help the authorities to frame the policies related with the expansion of I.T. education & opportunities in the state.
Dr H.S Shan, HOD Engineering Deptt IIT Roorki, Sudhanshu Malhotra, President Webcom Technologies Pvt. Ltd., and Summit Sharma, Vice President Intelliys Tech were the Special invitees on the inaugural occasion of this festival.
The Abstract Book was released by chief guest Abdul Gani Malik. The sponsors of the event had put up their canopies in the college premisis adding to the feel of the whole IT Fest. There were three technical sessions which were chaired by Dr Pawnesh Abrol, Dr Lalit Sen and Dr Vinod Sharma, Deptt of Computer Sciences, Jammu University respectively. Some of the speakers and participants from outside state, included delegates from DOABA college Punjab, Gurunanakdev College, Nakodar Punjab and Punjab Technical University.
Some of the papers that were presented were NSSA-A new perspective of network security, IT scope in J&K, Cyber Crime: A Digital War, E-commerce, E- governance, impact of computers on society for effective teaching.
The said event was sponsored by the Science & Technology Department. Govt. of India, J&K Bank, PTU Softlab,Reliance, PNB, Tata Indicom, Aircel, STIC, HP Compaq, Gulzar Group, Source Peripherals, Kanwal Electronics, Aman Technologies, Kochar Group, VLCC, NIFD, Oberoi Book Depot and Archies while Big 92.7 FM turned to be the media sponsor.
Surabhi Koul, Supriya Koul, Saniya & Sugandha were the comparers for the whole event and Prof. Parveen Singh, HOD Computer Sciences was the organizing seceratry.
