BJP flays NC’s stance over accession, terms J&K accession ‘full & final’

Jammu Dec 23
The BJP has ridiculed the statement of the National Conference that the accession of Jammu and Kashmir with Indian Union was conditional and linked with Delhi Agreement as also the Article-370 of the Indian Constitution.
Commenting upon the latest statement of the NC General Secretary Sheikh Nazir Ahmed, the leader of the BJP legislators Party, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta said that the Maharaja of the state, Hari Singh, had signed the same Instrument of Accession which was signed by over 550 princely states of the country in 1947. Under law regarding country’s independence this accession was full and final.
BJP Leader said, “Unfortunately the leaders of the NC had resorted to communal blackmail and the leadership of the Congress buckled in 1950 at the time of framing the Indian Constitution. Article-370 was, of course, a temporary provision which granted certain separate status to Jammu and Kashmir”
Further he observed that these blackmail tactics later on led to the controversial agreement between the two leaders viz late Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru and Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah in 1952. However, this agreement between the two personalities had no legal sanction and it was never approved in the Parliament, he said.
The BJP leader alleged that now when the Congress-led UPA regime at the Centre under the slogan of "Quiet Diplomacy" with separatists and other such likes, the NC leaders too, have begun parroting their demand for Autonomy by terming the accession with Indian union as "conditional". This indicated the dangerous potentialities inherent in the so called Quite Diplomacy, he added.
As the Congress is in coalition with the National Conference, it becomes imperative for this party leadership to clear the air that whether the accession of J&K with Indian Union is conditional or their fellow travellers are trying to mislead the people, especially those communally infected the elements in the troubled Kashmir.
The BJP leader made it clear that his party would not tolerate any reversal of the integration process and would continue to strive for abrogation of most obnoxious Article-370, which is a temporary provision.
