| EJAC observes one day token strike | | ‘Employees to go on ‘Kaam Chood Hartal on Dec 30’ | |
Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 23- Following government failure to fulfill its commitment made with the employees, J&K Government Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) today observed one day token strike and staged dharna at Vikram Chowk The protesting employees were raising slogans in support of their demands and said that on August 18, 2009 the Government had assured that all the demands were to be settled before October 31, 2009 but Government has miserably failed on its commitment. They added that Committee reminded the Government many times of its promise and asked it to fulfill its demands, but nothing substantial came out till date. “Forced by the callous, deceitful, indifferent attitude and back tracking from agreements in respect to employees problems by the Government, the J&K Government Employees Joint Action Committee called for observance of one day Kaam Chhod Hartal also on December 30 to press the Government for redressal of just and genuine demands and for implementation of various agreements and SROs in respect to employees”, the EJAC leaders announced. The employees are demanding release of 6th pay commission arrears, conversion of COLA into DA, enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years, removal of pay anomalies of' clerical and all other cadre employees, regularization of adhoc, contractual, consolidated and daily rated workers and uniform HRA to state government employees.
