| Painting camp concludes | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 23: The 4-day state level painting camp concluded at Kala Kendra on Thursday. On the concluding day several noted personalities including first lady Usha Vohra, minister for revenue Raman Bhalla and former Director General, Culture Mohammed Yousuf Taing visited Kala Kendra. The camp was first of its kind where senior and junior artistes worked together for promotion of art. One of the prominent highlights of the camp was that it gave equal representation to artistes of both the regions of the state as the Cultural Academy had invited ten artistes each from Kashmir and Jammu regions respectively. During the concluding day minister for revenue, Raman Bhalla was the chief guest while Additional Secretary, Cultural Academy, Savita Bakshi, noted painter Trilok Koul and Kewal Krishan were in the presidium. In his welcome address OP Sharma informed the gathering that the Cultural Academy had been holding such camps since 1968 and would continue to hold these in future also. He also informed that one such camp would begin at Rajouri later this month. Speaking on the occasion, Additional Secretary, Cultural Academy, Savita Bakshi said that it was Academy’s mandate to promote art and artistes and her institution would do whatever was required to promote the art of painting in the state. Minister for revenue, Raman Bhalla, who was the chief guest, also spoke on the occasion. He said that such camps were the need of the hour as they promote and highlight talent. Assuring the artistes, who had participated in the camp, full support, he said that the present government was keen to help them in every possible manner. He also complimented the Cultural Academy for organizing such painting camps. Among the prominent painters who participated in the camp were Trilok Koul, M. A. Mehboob, Vijay Saraf, Suman Gupta, Naushad Gayoor, Reecha Gupta, KK Gandhi, Rohit Verma and Shahida Malik.
