| Workshop on “Integrating Hospitals Safe from Disasters” concluded | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 23 - Minister for Health, Horticulture and FloricultureSham Lal Sharma has said that doctors and other technocrats will be deputed to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi for getting specialized trainings to deal with natural calamities and disaster management The Minister was addressing Doctors, Engineers, Police and Civil Officers and representatives of NGOs at the valedictory function of 3-day workshop on “Integrating Hospitals Safe from Disasters” Mr. Sharma sought cooperation of the Heads of Department, Hospital Administration and Medical Superintendent, AIIMS, Dr. Shakti Kumar Gupta in this regard.
The Minister said Jammu and Kashmir comes under Seismic Zone IV and V, with a very high damage risk and has suffered many devastating earthquakes in recent times, causing loss of human lives and development. He referred to most devastating earthquake of 2005, which shook the northern region of the state. He called for a well-knit and effective advance planning to deal with such natural calamities, with the involvement of experts and doctors to ensure minimum loss of life and property.
Expressing his gratitude to the organizers for holding this useful workshop in Jammu, the Minister said that the participants will utilize the experience gained in the workshop in their practical life and they will be able to deal with the emergent situations. He asked the participants to carry along the message of serving the ailing community with extra dedication and commitment. He also urged the organizers to hold more such workshops and educate more and more professionals about the disaster management.
The Minister gave away mementoes to the organizers. He thanked Dr. Shakti Gupta for showing his personal interest in organizing this workshop in the State
