ABVP raises concern over deteriorating law and order in city

Udhampur, Dec 24- The Akhil Bharitya Vidyarthi Parshid Udhampur has expressed concern at the deteriorating law and order situation in the city.

Addressing a press conference here today, State Joint Secretary Arjun Singh and city Secretary Sunny Mahajan criticized local SHO for his autocratic type of working and warned to launch agitation if style of police working does not change.

Coming heavily upon local SHO they said that law and order situation has deteriorated in city and incidents of thefts, murders, atrocities on common people particularly youths , growing illegal encroachments, are concern for common men here .Leaders said that besides, the drug peddlers were active and there was no effort to check their activity. They further lamented that land mafia had become a menace for residents.

ABVP leaders alleged that to make the matter worse, the complaints of common masses are not being entertained by the police and criminal matters are being compromised by taking bribe at police station. Leaders while referring towards tenure of previous SHO Vivek Gupta said that law and order situation had improved that time and there was check on criminals but presently people feel absence of police in city. Leaders alleged that youths are being particularly harassed and abused by local police and if timely action was not taken, things would get out of control, and warned agitation against it and also demanded immediate and effective action to improve law and order situation.
