| Fire cracker burns seized timber at Lakhanpur | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 25: Holding midnight revels at Lakhanpur in Kathua after India's triumph over Sri Lanka in the one day international match on Thursday, some youth burst a fire cracker which fell on government timber logs as a result of which the latter caught fire.
Police said after India defeated Sri Lanka late last night, several local youth started bursting fire crackers on their rooftops. A carcker fell on the timber logs piled up near the check post of sales tax department at Lakhanpur, the police added.
The logs soon caught fire. The flames were first noticed by some guards
of the sales tax department who brought the matter to the notice of
fire services department.Fire tenders were pressed into service. Police said the fire was soon extinguished by the firemen.
The extent of loss caused was yet to be estimated. The logs had been seized by the forest department while being smuggled outside the state.
