Govt endeavours to make J&K prosperous State: Shabir
6760 MW Power to be taped by 12th Plan end

JAMMU, DECEMBER 27- Minister of State for Power and CA&PD, Mr. Shabir Ahmed Khan has said that the Government endeavours to make Jammu and Kashmir a prosperous State, adding that massive infrastructure and planned development has been accorded top priority for materializing the dream.
Addressing a public gathering at Botango in Sopore today, the Minister said that the Government has chalked out an ambitious hydel power capacity addition programme, under which 6760 MW hydro power would be tapped by the end of 12th Plan in the State.
The Minister said that State’s huge power potential of 20,000 MW would be harnessed in phased manner. He said prestigious power projects like Baglihar stage-II (450MW), Kishan Ganga (330MW), Uri-II (240MW), Sawlakot (1200MW), Kirthi-I and II (1230MW) and New Ganderbal (93MW) are being taken up in the State under State and Centre sectors.
The Minister said that during remaining years of 11th Plan 510.11 MW Hydel Power are being added under Centre and State sectors in the State.
Mr. Shabir said that Government is extremely grateful to the UPA Government for allotting additional 500 MW power to the State to bridge the gap between demand and supply during ensuing winter.
The Minister said that a huge amount is being expended in Baramulla district for upgradation of power infrastructure under various Centre and State schemes. He directed the concerned authorities to formulate Action Plan for the same in all the areas of district.
The Minister said that functioning of CA&PD department is being made more vibrant to provide easy access to the consumers for collecting their ration. He said it has been made mandatory that every rationee would get ration from nearest sale outlet before 25th of every month. He asked the concerned authorities to ensure stocking and supply of foodgrains at all sale outlets for the convenience of the people, adding any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated. He also urged for activating Market Checking Squads to control black marketing and profiteering.
