| Register grievances in Consumer foras: Akhoon | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, DECEMBER 27 – Reiterating the Government’s resolve to provide a responsible and accountable administration to the people and safeguarding the rights of consumers, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) and Transport Mr. Qamar Ali Akhoon has appealed the people to register their grievances in the various Consumer fora to seek justice. The Minister was addressing a function organized in connection of National Consumer week organized by CA&PD Department, Jammu here last evening. Highlighting the significance of consumer rights, the Minister said every individual of the society has to share his responsibility in safeguarding consumer rights. He also urged for creating awareness among the masses for consumer rights and asked the Government agencies and Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) for launching mass campaign to educate people about consumer rights. Akhoon also spelt out various measures initiated by the Government for redressal of Consumer problem including constitution of Consumer Councils and establishment of Consumer Courts at district level etc. Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner/Secretary, CA&PD and Transport Mr. Asgar Hassan Samoon said that Government was initiating various measures to educate consumers about their rights. He said for the purpose, the school children would also be involved and Dramas, Nukad Nataks, Seminars, Skits, debates will be organized in urban as well as rural areas for educating the masses.
