| Mughal road to open vistas of development for Poonch: Saroori | | | Early Times Report Poonch, Dec 27: Taking forward the development programmes of the Coalition Government, Minister for R&B, G. M. Saroori today laid foundation of 40 meter span steel motor able bridge to be constructed over Sowaj river, Mandi Tehsil, in district Poonch at a cost of Rs. 1.91 crore. The Minister also laid foundation of 3 kms Azimabad-Mughalabad and 3 kms Brachar-Markote roads coming up at cumulated cost of Rs. 4.50 crore benefiting 25 thousand people of the area. The Minister also announced construction of road links from Sultanpathar to Tangmarg, Lalian to Atoli and Chaila to Dangri. He asked the engineers to survey the areas and submit detailed projects reports (DPRs) for early approval. The Minister also ordered widening of Poonch-Mandi-Budha Amarnath road to prevent road accidents. Speaking on the occasion, Saroori said that the Coalition Government has devised several programmes for the development of the district. He said a major part of the population of the district is living in hilly and remote areas and assured that all unconnected villages would be connected with district headquarters through road network. The Minister said that the State has got a highest ever plan outlay of Rs. 5500 crore. In addition, he said, Rs. 1200 crore would be expended in the State under PMRP for augmenting the infrastructure. Describing Mughal Road as a dream of the people of two regions, the Minister said it would open vistas of development for the people of the State, particularly, of Poonch district. Minister said that Government has launched several welfare schemes in the district and appealed the people to come forward and take the benefits of the schemes aimed for their upliftment. MLA, Poonch, Aijaz Ahmad Jan and MLC, Abdul Gani Vakil also spoke on the occasion. The Minister also reviewed the pace of development projects coming up under R&B and PMGSY scheme in the district. He asked the engineers to monitor the work regularly and ensure timely completion of all the projects. Later the Minister visited the shrine of Shahdara Sharief and paid obeisance at the Dargah of the Sufi Saint. Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, K.L. Khajuria, SE, R&B, officers of various departments besides senior Congress leader, Ghulam Mustafa Azad accompanied the Minister.
