Jammu, Dec 27: in a combine move, the enforment and health wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) carried out surprise inspection under the supervision of Babu Ram Bhagat joint commissioner along with health officer and police force against the use of polythene carry bags in the moving in various localities like Indira Chowk vegetable market, Sabzi Mandi Parade, vegetable market canal road, canal road, Jewel Chowk, Janipur, Sarwal and Rehari areas. The team seized about 120 kgs of polythene carry bags from the shops, fruit juice corners, halwai shops, cheese corners, bakery shops, vegetable vendors, karayana shops etc. During the drive 57 no’s of challans were lifted against the violators and Rs 14,100/- was realized as fine on spot. The people were also made aware of the ban imposed by the government against the use of polythene carry bags.
